Horace Parker, Jr. was born on January 10, 1950 to Mr. Horace Parker, Sr. and Mrs. Sarah Cunningham Parker in Upson County. He was educated ar Drake High School in Upson County. Horace worked for Reddick Construction Company for serval years. He also did other little odd and ends jobs in the community until his health failed.
He accepted Jesus as his personal Lord and Savior at a early age and joined Greater Mt. Zion Baptist Church. He enjoyed watching TV, talking with family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ida Bell McCrary; father, Horace Parker, Sr., brother, Bruce Parker.
Horace and Ida Bell lived together as husband and wife for over 30 years, until she preceded him in death about 3 months ago. Horace entered into rest on Tuesday, January 21, 2014.
Horace leaves to cherish his memory a very loving and devoted mother, Mrs. Sarah Cunningham-Parker; a daughter; Lakeitha (Joseph) Brown; five sisters; Laverne (Charles) Flowers, Laurine (Powell) Thornton, Annie Maude Furlow, Elve (Lonnie) Wilder and Cynthia (Robert) Parker; three brothers; Eugene (Tine) Furlow, Larry (Clementine) Parker and Harry Parker; three grandchildren; Terrell Terry, Joseph Brown, Jr, and Joshua Brown; two great grandchildren; Nacari White and Jordan Brown and host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Homegoing celebration for Horace was Saturday, January 25, 2014 at 1:00pm at Pine Chapel Baptist Church on Tom McKinley Road in Thomaston. Interment to follow in Welcome Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
Final arrangements was entrusted to Burden and Worthy Funeral Home.
