Melvin Lamar Jackson was born January 11, 1951 to the union of Willie B. and Elector Jackson in Concord, Georgia. He received his formal education at Pike County Consolidated School in Concord, Georgia. Melvin accepted Christ at an early age. He was employed by Atlanta Journal and Constitution for several years. He was a quiet and humble person, who loved and enjoyed life by spending time with his family and friends. He also loved spending his time fishing in the “Hill Top” community. He was preceded in death by his father; Willie B. Jackson, mother; Elector Jackson and a brother,; Eddie Clarence Jackson.
He leaves to cherish his memory a son; Raymond Jackson; four sisters and three brothers; Barbara Jean Ward-White; Edward Jackson; Frederick Jackson; Elvaree Ison; Cheryl Jackson all of Griffin, GA; Jesse and Margaret of Atlanta, GA; Lettie Jackson of Thomaston; grandchildren; Javarius Jackson and Ciara Jackson; great grandchildren; Cash Denero Lane; Celerity Lane and Summer Lane; 12 nephews and 9 nieces who will miss him dearly.
Funeral service for Mr. Jackson was held on Monday, May 13, 2013 at 1:00pm at New Pleasant Hill Church located at108 Society Street in Concord, Georgia. Interment followed in the New Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Reverend Fred Blackmon Officiated. Burden’s Funeral Home of Griffin, 222 S 14th Street were entrusted with arrangements.
