Mrs. Anna Laverne Harris Walker was born April 30, 1959 to the late Ms. Mary Ina Harris and Mr. Felton Hobbs in Thomaston, Upson County Georgia. She received her education in the public schools in Upson County graduating from the Upson schools. It was here that she met and made friends that lasted her lifetime. On May 2, 1998 she married Mr. Stanley V. Walker. They truly loved each other and shared many precious moments together. They were married for 15 years and were together for 20 years.
Anna was employed by Carter’s Mill for many years until closing. Afterward, she was employed by Upson Regional Medical Center as a cook. She was faithful on the job and only resigned due to her health. At an early age Anna joined the Cedar Grove AME Church. She was a very faithful member and served on the Usher Board. She later became a member of Springfield Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Patrick Allen. She was always willing to do whatever was asked as she faithfully served the church until her health failed. She loved her Pastor and the members and they loved her.
On Tuesday, May 7, 2013, she was ready to return home after fighting cancer. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends, who loved her so much. She leaves to cherish her memory a devoted husband, Mr. Stanley Walker; 3 children; Carlos Harris; Devonye Harris and Neal Harris all of Thomaston, Georgia; and stepson; Taye Walker of Thomaston, Georgia; 2 grandchildren she raised as her own; Casmeondra Harris and Casiondra Alexander both of Thomaston, Georgia; 10 grandchildren; 3 sisters; Patricia (Robert) king; Lisa Hobbs of Thomaston, Georgia and CarlaGrissom Hobbs of Griffin, Georgia; 3 brothers; Stanley Harris; Tommy Murray; Charles (Rebecca) Durham all of Thomaston, Georgia; 1 uncle Edward (Glenda) Harris; 5 aunts; Mary Joyce (Dennis) Copeland; Charlene (Robert) Thompson of Thomaston, Georgia; Janice (Rev. Fred) Blackmon of Concord, Georgia; Gloria Jean Willis of Shiloh, Georgia; Shirley (Cleveland) Smith of Maplewood, NJ; Mother-in-law Mairane (Charlie) Worthy of Thomaston, Georgia; 1 sister-in-law Evangeline Acey of Thomaston, Georgia; 2 special friends; Joyce Brazil and Chandra Smith and a special cousin,; Pearlie Mae Walker all of Thomaston, Georgia; a host of nieces and nephews that she loved very much and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends who mourn her passing.
Home going service was held at Springfield Missionary Baptist Church, located at 6897 Highway 74 West, Molena, Georgia where Pastor C. Derrick Shelton, Sr, Officiated. Interment to follow in The Lincoln Park Cemetery. Burden and Worthy Funeral Home of Thomaston was entrusted with final arrangements
