Ms. Barbara Moreland was born July 17, 1944 in Upson County, Georgia to the parentage of the late Oliver Jack Tomlin and Lula Releford Tomlin. The Lord called her home on September 25, 2013 to live in external peace. In addition to her parents preceding her in death one sister, Lizzy Drain and four brothers; Willie A. Tomlin; Isaiah Tomlin; Felton Tomlin and Horace Tomlin.
Barbara Moreland accepted Christ at an early age and was united Macedonia Baptist Church in Thomaston, Georgia, where she served as an usher. Ms. Moreland was a very jovial and high spirited person who enjoyed filling her position as a dietician at Sheltering Arms for over 30 years. She also enjoyed sports, playing cards and feeding people.
She leaves to cherish the loving memories of her, her three children; a daughter, Diann (Wayne) Whatley; two sons; Lamar (DeeDee) Moreland and Adrian Moreland; seven grandchildren: Wakeel, Sonni (Edward) Draveon, Jr. Dralon, Destiny, Sharia and Mya; and great grandchildren; Audreece, Alexandria, Ramone, Elizabeth, Madison and Nathan (coming soon) and three great great grandchildren; Perrance, Jr., and Alexia; two brothers Arthur (Ernestine) Tomlin and Aldeen (Porchia) Tomlin; three sisters; Ruth Kendall Morris, Mabel Brown and Betty Wonnoum; a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.
Funeral service for Ms. Moreland was held on Tuesday, October 1 2013 at 11:00am at Green Pastures Christian Ministries located at 5455 Flat Shoals Parkway in Decatur, Georgia. The Apostle Collette L. Gunby is the Pastor and Pastor Douglas Gunby, Officiating. Interment followed in Dawn Memorial Gardens. Repast was held at the home of Mrs. Sylan McCoy in Decatur, Georgia.
Burden’s Funeral Home, 222 S 14th Street, Griffin, GA is in charge of all professional arrangements.
